Independent Testing and Coverage
This page collects third-party testing and press coverage of Rule 28 products. Results differ between tests, riders and speeds, so each source is summarised neutrally and linked in full. Where a source has a commercial relationship with Rule 28, it is labelled.
Aero socks
- Cyclingnews, 5 October 2026: Wind tunnel test of aero socks. The One Aero Sock recorded the lowest drag of the socks tested at 45 km/h and was in the leading group at 30 km/h. The author notes the margins between the top socks were small. The Neo Aero Sock placed mid-table at the tested speeds.
- Cyclingnews, 30 June 2025: Wind tunnel test of 16 pairs of aero socks at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub. The One Aero Sock placed in the middle of the field, within the stated margin of error of its neighbours.
- ATP Performance, 25 March 2025: Wind tunnel test of Rule 28 and competitor socks at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub, run by ATP Performance. The testing was funded by Rule 28, ATP Performance managed data collection, setup and methodology, and the socks tested were donated to the Hub. It used a single rider and a 0 degree yaw angle. Full data is in our write-up of the test.
- BikeRadar, 20 May 2020: Early coverage of Rule 28 aero socks, crediting Rule 28 for publishing its test data and noting the testing limits.
- Dylan Johnson, YouTube (Rule 28 sponsored athlete): Wind tunnel test of gravel equipment. Reports a 4.8 W saving for Rule 28 aero socks versus standard cycling socks, which the video projects as about 3 minutes 20 seconds over the Unbound gravel race.
- Dylan Johnson with Josh Poertner, YouTube (Rule 28 sponsored athlete): Wind tunnel comparison of aero products. Reports that aero socks give a drag saving roughly 3-4 times larger than an oversized pulley wheel.
Aero Base Layer and High Speed Aero Base Layer
- BikeRadar, 19 April 2023: First-look coverage of the Aero Base Layer. Reports wind tunnel savings of about 2.8 W at 45 km/h at 0 degrees yaw and about 7.5 W at 5 degrees yaw, paired with the Neo Suit 1.1.
- GCN Tech, YouTube: Wind tunnel test of aero body fairings. Reports that the Aero Base Layer reduced aerodynamic drag by 4.5% on the test rider at 45 km/h, which the video projects as a 17 second saving over a 10 mile time trial.
- Endurance.biz, 4 September 2023: News report on the launch of the High Speed Aero Base Layer, based on Rule 28's announcement. Designed for speeds above 50 km/h.
- Dan Pettitt, YouTube: Reports that professional riders and teams not sponsored by Rule 28 buy and wear the Aero Base Layer because of the performance it gives them.
- SEMIPRO CYCLING, YouTube: News coverage of the INEOS WorldTour team wearing the Aero Base Layer in high-level races.
- road.cc, YouTube: News coverage of the Aero Base Layer.
Suits
- Cyclist: Neo Road Suit review: Cyclist magazine's review of the Neo Road Suit.
- GCN Tech, YouTube: Wind tunnel test of the Rule 28 Gravel Suit. Reports a 13.5 W saving at 35 km/h, which the video projects as a saving of more than 10 minutes over the Unbound gravel race.
- Bikerumor, 31 May 2024 (via Yahoo Sports): Report on the Gravel Suit launch. Performance details come from Rule 28 and its sponsored athlete rather than independent testing.
Reading these results
Wind tunnel results depend on the rider, the position, the speed, the yaw angle and the equipment used. A saving measured on one rider at one speed does not transfer exactly to another, and results between independent tests can differ, as the two Cyclingnews tests show. Where Rule 28 has funded or sponsored a test, this is stated above.
